    Auto Air Fire
    by Luc Sabourin

Reprinted with permission from Airbrush Technique Magazine

Hi, my name is Luc Sabourin. I'm located in Gatineau, Quebec, Canada. I've been airbrushing illustrations and other artwork for a little over 2 years with a special interest in Fantasy art. I'm also a big fan of military modeling, which is where I've learned a lot about airbrush control. I don't consider myself an authority in true ...

    911 Theme Helmet
    by Don Johnson
    Airbrush Artist

I was commissioned about 10 days before Christmas to do a 911 theme helmet for Bernard Kerik, NYPD Police Commissioner at the time the attack took place. Not much time to put something together like this but it sounded like an interesting project so I dove in head first. Didn't hurt either that he offered to sent full payment with the helmet, generally I only get a 50% deposit to start.
Please keep in mind many of the techniques I use in this project I learned while airbrushing T Shirts, bikes and even illustrations over the years. You should be able to apply them as well to your own projects no matter what the painting surface is.

    Material used:
House of Kolor base coats and clear coat
    Iwata HP-CS, Micron B
Sata Mini Jet for clear coating
    roll of transfer tape
    Bristol ...

    by Dan Hagen

    Reprinted courtesy Airbrush Technique Magazine

I today's fast and the furious world of custom painting much of the what was hip in the 50's 60's and 70's has been lost or is a dying art form. With many of the new custom painters today, most of them focus on the new types of designs and bright colors. This is great for the younger generation, but many people still desire the old school look with a little twist. In this article we will be looking at some old school with some new technology. Armed with this ...

    Step #1.
Our canvas for this project is a powder coated aluminum hood. Mike started by wiping it down with PPG DX330, then it was scuffed with grey MIRLON Mirka scuff pad to assure good adhesion. This was followed up by a second application of DX330 and a thorough drying.

    Compressor Modification
    By Gary Fredericks

Here is a quick, easy and low cost modification that can be done to most air compressors. My air compressor a Sears Craftsman 5hp 20 gallon model had a very cheap and hard to use drain plug as it came from the store. With this modification you will no longer need to tip your compressor and fight with this awkward device. Draining your compressor after each use is essential preventative maintenance tasks that can keep your compressor healthy and may help it last longer.

    Motorcycle Helmet Trim Masking
    by Don Johnson
    Airbrush Artist

I’ve experimented with dozens of ways of dealing with helmet trim while painting a helmet this is the way I’ve found works best. For high dollar helmet designs I more times than not remove the trim replacing it with new trim but for the average helmet paint job this works great. I have to thank Pat (aka airbrushguy) for ...

    Custom Painting Motorcycle
    By Blair Elliott " Kicks

Brought to you by Airbrush Technique Magazine.

As I do with every article I'm going to once again ask you to e-mail Kicks a big THANK YOU for helping out with this great article Hopefully we will be lucky enough to have more articles by Kicks soon

To start off,... I would just like to say that everyone has their own way of doing things from the prep to the final clear, including the tools they use and how they use them. The following is how I do the prep and paint on a motorcycle from the factory metal on up. It's not the only way but it's what works for me I guess the first thing that we should take a look at are some of the tools that will be needed. You're going to need a grinder for cleaning off rust and ...
